Happy Monday everyone! Yes, I wrote it with complete sincerity. We all deserve a happy Monday – maybe video games can help with that. As you might expect, Elden Ring’s recently released Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC remains this week’s Big Kahuna, with no mega-releases in sight in the future to break its discourse barrier, but I’ve dipped my gloved hand in latex in pregnancy pools. and discovered some promising wonders.
Monday June 24 starts with the Dice & Fold dungeon diamond. On Tuesday June 25, we’ve got the remake of the 90s point-and-click mystical Riven – now with real-time, shock-absorbing 3D environments – along with the magical visual realist high school novel Until Then and popular Argentinian horror Pomberito, in which a farmer must survive five nights while investigating a local beast. Moving on to Thursday June 27th, there’s some Orpheus DLC for music RPG Stray Gods and the early access release of 30 players in Battle Crush. Friday, June 28th sees the release of early access to the OUTBRK tornado-tracking simulation, which lets you monitor rogue weather on a 625 square kilometer map.
Here at the RPS Treehouse we’ll be spending a good chunk of the week feeding Maw’s newly opened Erdtree parts, but we’ll also be getting our hands on a co-op anime shooter that won’t spoil it, digging. long forgotten Aliens games, and maybe finding time for a retro styled FPS or two. Maw would normally consider this spartan fare, but there’s so much fused Elden Ring DLC coursing through his cyclopean veins that I think we’ll get by. Even Maw needs time to digest.
Diablo 4 is getting a wave-based Infernal Hordes mode in Season 5 – more here.

UK retail chain GAME has denied a report suggesting they were planning to stop selling physical games, whatever they are, through VG247. Admittedly, I too occasionally feel the spectral pangs of this pervasive Mandela effect, whenever I read a bottle of shampoo on the toilet and suffer vivid hallucinations of something called an ‘instruction manual’.

Erstwhile Days Gone creative director John Garvin is back with tweets about his pitch for a sequel, which game director Jeff Ross has said will “never happen.”

Maw enthusiasts may have noticed that this week’s liveblog article has been styled differently, with what I hope is a slightly more catchy and transparent title. Maw is in a state of evolution – a terrible time. As such, we especially welcome any thoughts you have about its future in the comments.

A former Creative Assembly developer who worked on Rome 2 and Atilla before leaving the studio has posted a lengthy account on Medium, detailing his negative experiences with both the management structure and being blamed by fans for the difficult release of Rome 2.

The new post-apoc city builder cycle, which Sin wasn’t entirely convinced about, has a new early access guide. “Cormac McCarthy’s The Roadmap,” they should call a guide to post-apoc gaming. Planned additions include *squints* “luxury consumer goods”? Truly apocalyptic.

I played a bit of the Renaine knight platformer demo over the weekend and loved it. While Shovel Knight is the obvious comparison, I also get a very faint Mystery Dungeon vibe from it.

Slay The Princess developers Black Tabby Games have said that they are not okay with you pirating their game if you can’t afford it. The game is currently enjoying a boost thanks to a Markiplier video over the weekend.
